The Writer/Editor is a core Editorial Team member in the firm’s Marketing & Business Development Department. The Editorial Team is responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading a wide range of content for the firm’s internal and external communications, including thought leadership pieces, web content, marketing and recruiting collateral, and qualifications statements. Topics span subjects such as economic issues in health care, finance, and energy; intellectual property; antitrust; technology and data science; and damages associated with litigation.

 

The Writer/Editor works closely with a variety of stakeholders – including departmental colleagues and consulting staff at all levels, including senior staff – to generate original content, refine existing content, and execute on other firm writing needs. They also play a leading role in editing and proofreading a variety of firm collateral and maintaining both content quality and editorial standards for the firm as a whole.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Content development, writing and substantive editing, serving as the point person for a wide variety of short- and long-form written content, including feature articles, bios, brochures, and practice descriptions
  • Proofreading, copyediting, quality control, and production oversight for selected work assignments covering the complete range of content Analysis Group produces, including:
    • Articles, white papers, Q&As, and other thought leadership materials
    • Corporate website and social media content, including case write-ups, publication summaries, and event announcements
    • Corporate and practice area brochures
    • Consultant and affiliate bios and CVs
    • Qualifications statements and other business development–related materials
    • Internal and external PowerPoint presentations
    • Human Resources and Recruiting brochures and website content
  • Work closely with members of other Marketing & Business Development teams, including Practice Development, Research, Graphics, and Digital
  • Develop areas of expertise related to the firm’s practices, and develop strong working relationships with consulting staff, including senior staff
  • Take responsibility for selected team functions and processes, as needed, including development of departmental and firm-wide editorial standards


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree preferred; M.B.A. or economics degree/coursework a plus, as is law firm or consulting experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of business-writing experience required; writing samples may be requested
  • An ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of substantive relevant experience.
  • Meticulous attention to grammar and accuracy; highly detail oriented; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
  • Professional services firm experience preferred; B2B experience required
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and comfort level with very high-quality standards and academic orientation; self-adaptive learner; ability to think logically and deal with complex, often technical material
  • Ability to develop fact-based content that is accessible and compelling
  • Maturity and diplomacy in interacting with colleagues in the Marketing & Business Development Department, as well as with consultants (including senior staff and affiliated experts, as needed) whose primary responsibilities are to clients
  • An inclusive and growth-oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work across differences
