The Payroll Specialist will serve as the liaison between HR and payroll, gathering all the payroll changes and preparing the data for bi-weekly payroll processing in Workday. This position will work closely with the Payroll Manager, Payroll Coordinator and Benefits Team, and serve as a resource for employees with answering payroll questions.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the compilation of US payroll transactions for each pay period and balance out such transactions with the master payroll report
  • Prepare the US bi-weekly payroll
  • Calculate various HR transactions in Workday including new hires, salary changes, extra benefit deductions, terminations, etc.
  • Track employee hires and terminations, along with Benefits Team, to ensure timely payroll changes and collaborate with Office Managers when necessary
  • Assist with year-end payroll reporting in the US and Canada
  • Review and enter leaves of absence updates including changes in hours, pay and benefits
  • Prepare various import files for transactions such as taxable benefits (gym/parking), bonuses, and salary increases
  • Serves as point-of-contact for employee payroll inquires
  • Assist with payroll related general ledger reconciliations
  • Assist with partner bonus schedules and partner bonus communications
  • Helps prepare company-wide payroll communications

 

Environmental Demands:

  • Engage in office work using a computer and telephone

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ substantive relevant experience required
  • 3-5 years’ of substantive relevant experience in payroll preferred, preferably in a professional services firm
  • Experience using Workday required
  • Strong PC capability, & proficient in Excel
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Effectively listens to requests
  • Works effectively with others and independently; demonstrates initiative and ownership
  • Resolves problems quickly and effectively
  • An inclusive and growth-oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work across differences
